Public relations firms are one of our problems when we contact potential clients offering our PR services. Our prospects often say they are not interested in PR because they spent out a lot of money with one of these PR firms and never saw anything published. We do not have that problem and have always got our client's published. That is, apart from one client in the USA, who would not give us the information to justify the claims for their service, which we needed to convince editors. So nothing was ever written, let alone published. The difference between us and PR firms is that we are information systems consultants with a specialisation in PR. So we specialise in IT, electronic information and related technology for our PR service. Because we are information systems consultants, rather than just spin doctors, we think we cut more ice with editors, who are wary of PR puff. Another difference, is that we specialise in expert articles. PR companies will not normally have the staff with the right experience to be capable of writing such an in-depth explanation of the product or service. This gives us another advantage, in that, apart from articles producing large coverage, where they are more likely to be noticed by your prospects, they are also more likely to be published, than say, press releases. Big splashes of publicity are often needed by high-tech firms because they frequently suffer from an education problem. Their prospects just do not understand the product or service enough to appreciate it. Control is another factor. If you create the articles yourself, rather than try to get the magazine to write the article, you have greater control over the messages delivered. Also, the company's telephone number at the bottom of the article is frequently published, allowing for direct sales too, rather than just impressions. Articles can also be reused elsewhere, such as in information packs, mailshots and web sites. That is not to say that we do not work with press releases, we do. However they are normally part of a portfolio of information packages, including articles written by us and articles written by the magazines themselves. We must emphasise that we cannot guarantee you will be published. No-one can though, including the Editors. What we do offer is a high probability of being published, partly because of that already mentioned above, and because of our risk management. That high probability has always meant that clients are published and so see results for their money. As we are based in the UK (United Kingdom), near London, England actually, our experience has been mainly in the UK and with the business press (trade press). This is not just the computing press but also business sectors such as; Accountancy, Banking, Chemicals, Investment, Insurance and so on. However, we have had a fair amount published in European business magazines, particularly in Scandinavia and also some in Australia. We see no reason why coverage could not be expanded to other parts of the world. Although, we have not heard of specific complaints of poor service by PR companies, service by firms, in general, is poor. How often have you left a message, only to find that no-one has got back to you, assuming it is possible even to leave a message. We have simple facilities so it is always possible to take messages, even if everyone is busy, and we always return our calls, promptly. Another bad experience can be concern about progress. So we publish regular reports that show our results to date and, of course, as the material is published, we send it to the client. For more information on our services please click here.
