This manufacturer of electric light bulbs had undertaken a black spot analysis to identify result areas having the most significant impact on critical success factors and wanted these areas analysed in more detail. Lilley Information Systems carried out an enterprise-wide process analysis spanning a division's 3 factories and marketing arm, and the interfacing group's accounting system and supplier/customer factory network. The study uncovered how functional optimisation by production, marketing and accounts, at the expense of each other, were significantly contributing to the division's loss. This realisation gave the client a much more effective sense of direction, by concentrating first on optimising the business as a whole, rather than the individual parts.
